Get Georgia Reading Campaign for Grade-Level Reading partner August House Publishers is providing free access to Story Cove, a supplemental reading platform that uses diverse stories through folktales to nurture a love of reading and enhance understanding of other cultural traditions.
August House Publishers developed Story Cove to make supplemental reading more engaging, meaningful, and effective for young, emerging readers.
Research demonstrates that stories, especially folktales, support a child’s ability to understand abstract concepts and provide an indispensable role in advancing language development.
“Folktale-based shared reading increases enjoyment of literature and contributes to language, literacy, social, and emotional development,” said Get Georgia Reading Campaign Director Arianne Weldon. “We’re grateful to August House Publishers for providing parents, other caregivers, and educators access to resources that support positive, language-rich social interactions in classrooms across the state—and in all Georgia’s homes.
