Grab Your Hat and Read with the Cat

Congratulations! Today is your day!

Thursday, March 2, is Read Across America Day—and we are challenging all of our Get Georgia Reading Campaign communities to get involved this year by hosting an event.

Read Across America is a reading motivation and awareness program hosted by the National Education Association (NEA) that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.

From artwork to fact sheets to media tips, these great resources will help you plan and promote your Seussational reading event.

Our goal is for 10 Campaign communities to share this special day with children and families. We hope you will make the commitment today to help Get Georgia Reading through this program!

Send photos from your community event to Arianne Weldon at GGR@gafcp.org, and be sure to use the hashtags #GetGAReading and #ReadAcrossGA with your social media posts.

  • Leaders in Muscogee County and Fort Benning will distribute donated books to babies and young children across the county during a local celebration, while child-care centers and others will read books to children and their families during community events.
