Fifth-Grade Pals Reveal what Makes Them Amazing Readers

Sarah Charlotte, a fifth grader at Mt. Vernon Exploratory School in Gainesville, GA, interviews her friend and classmate, Ellie, to find out what makes her such an amazing reader. They review the books they love—and the books they’ve abandoned—tell why they always read the book before they see the movie, and reveal how they remain faithful to the printed page in a video-game world. They also share some tips to help students everywhere keep their reading skills sharp when school’s not in session.

Through it all they remind us that behind every successful reader is a mom.
